**There
is an interesting story behind this tartan, as related by a former member of the now-defunct Blue Heron Bay Pipe Band (located
in Oregon during the 1970's): "When our PM went to Scotland to buy a bolt of tartan - so we could have our kilts made locally
- the mill manager showed him a bolt of, I believe, Blue MacBeth tartan where an extra stripe had been added by mistake. He
offered it to us at a discount and said if we wanted he would call it the 'Blue Heron' tartan."
